Y Ganolfan – Specialist Inclusion Centre

Inclusion is at the heart of what we do here at Ysgol Aberconwy. We have an excellent resource called ‘Y Ganolfan’ that is our specialist inclusion centre. This is divided into five main areas, Hafan, Pontio, Man Meddwl, Tegfan and Morfa Bach. Different areas of Y Ganolfan support learners with challenging behaviour, ASD, neurodevelopmental difficulties and vulnerable students. We provide a holistic approach, in a nurturing environment, to support students so that they can engage positively with the mainstream curriculum.

Y Ganolfan is well resourced including sensory equipment and a state of the art acoustic pod which enables students to focus when they need to. The rooms are divided into zones including a working area, access to ICT, quiet areas as well as areas for 1:1 support and group work. We offer a range of interventions from within Y Ganolfan including Lego therapy, toolbox sessions, drawing and talking and communication groups. Students also have access to therapeutic support from a qualified counsellor.
