All school catering is provided by Sodexo, a large specialist international facilities management company.
The Sodexo "For You" offer is the food offer that has been designed to provide healthy, balanced and nutritious meals to students in secondary education. It is compliant with the Welsh Government Guidelines for Healthy Eating, Appetite for Life. This means that our menus meet the required measures for nutrition and food choices.
Main Dining Hall
Sodexo provide a hot counter in the main dining hall, serving a variety of items, including vegetarian, which change on a daily basis. The menu cycle extends over three weeks and is changed twice per year.
The café outlet in the dining hall offers hand held items, one pot meals, pre-made baguettes and sandwiches, fruit, drinks and cakes to take away.
There is also a themed bar which offers jacket potatoes, sub rolls, freshly made pizza slices and pasta dishes, which alternates weekly. In addition, there are themed weeks and special days throughout the year.
The Café is available first thing in the morning for hot drinks, porridge, cereals, toast and bacon sandwiches. Fruit and yoghurt can also be made available if required.
We would encourage all our pupils to have breakfast as it has been proven that having something for this most important meal of the day improves concentration and helps the learning process.
They also provide a lunchtime deli bar counter in our Sports Hall outlet, Café 6, serving made-to-order sandwiches, baguettes, wraps and rolls, as well as a range of hot, hand held snacks, and one pot dishes to take away.
We offer a ‘Meal Deal’ option which includes the hot meal, potatoes and vegetables as appropriate, a fruit juice or milk, and a cake, fruit or yoghurt dessert or a sandwich style packed lunch. This is available for all our pupils.
For those pupils who have activities in the lunch hour, we offer a Grab and Go option, where they can order a packed meal at break time, collect at lunch time and beat the queue.
Break times feature a selection of hot hand held snacks, toast, bagels, tea-cakes, soup, hot drinks and the opportunity, if required to order a packed meal. We also have freshly made baguettes and sandwiches available, fruit and yoghurt.
If any parent has any questions regarding the service, or would like to visit the department, they can contact the Sodexo Site Services Manager, who will be happy to help.
Information regarding children with food allergies and/or intolerances is collected during the school admissions process.
