Firstly, can I take this opportunity to thank you for supporting your children back to school over the last week or so, and for helping them through all the changes that we have had to put in place to keep them safe. It has been great to see the building full again, and to get back to supporting our students in their education and development.
I am writing to let you know that we are updating our policies in relation to face coverings, in light of the Welsh Government’s announcements today that they must be worn in public indoor spaces. Although I have not received any further information specific to schools, it seems prudent to follow this advice in communal spaces in the school. As you know, we are working hard to ensure that contact between year groups is kept to an absolute minimum, but to reinforce this we will be asking students to wear a face covering on the school corridors, in other communal spaces (such as toilets) and on all the school buses. They will not be required to wear them in classrooms, outdoors, or when they are eating or relaxing at lunch.
I am sure you will understand why we have taken this step now and will support everyone in the school community by ensuring that your child understands what we are asking them to do. If you feel that your son or daughter should be exempt from wearing a mask on medical grounds, please get in touch with us to avoid any confusion or unnecessary upset.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
