5th May 2020
Firstly, I would like to congratulate all of our students in year 11, 12 and 13 for the way in which they have approached the return to school after the recent lockdown. I understand what a demanding time this is for them, but I am pleased to report that in the majority of cases, they have started working effectively with their teachers to gather the evidence they need to provide ‘Centre determined Grades’ in place of their examinations this summer.
I write with further details of arrangements for the remainder of this term and to let you know how and when students will receive grades for qualifications. For clarity, I have summarised these arrangements by dates below:
Friday May 28th:
Will be the last day of required attendance for year 11 and 13. For year 12, we aim to finish delivering AS qualifications on this date, and will begin A2 qualifications in the classroom on Tuesday June 8th. We will expect them in school full-time from that date.
Monday June 7th:
School will be closed to students for moderation of evidence and preparation of grades.
Tuesday June 8th:
We will invite students in Year 11 and 13 into school individually to complete any missing items of evidence. Please ensure availability between June 8th and Friday June 18th.
Friday June 18th:
We aim to issue provisional grades to students for all WJEC qualifications by this date. For BTEC qualifications and other examination boards, we will submit final grades to the exam boards on this date – you will not be issued provisional grades for these boards. There will then be a short period in which students can request a review of their WJEC grades. We will forward details of how this will be done later in the term. No further evidence will be gathered after this date, and we do not anticipate any further need for year 13 to attend.
Monday June 21st:
Year 11 students wanting to return to the sixth form will begin an induction programme. As a result of time they have missed in school, we feel it is important to give them as much support as we can to prepare them for AS levels and make sure they have had a chance to discuss their course choices with us in advance of September. We will provide further details before half term, but we anticipate students doing some study in school and some at home through until Friday July 9th.
Friday July 2nd:
We will submit final ‘Centre determined Grades’ to the WJEC exam board by this date.
Friday July 16th:
Final day of Summer term.
Tuesday August 10th:
AS/A2 & L3 BTEC/OCR results will be issued to Year 12 and 13. We will let you know how and when they can be collected later in the term.
Thursday August 12th:
GCSE & L2 BTEC results will be issued to Year 10 and 11. We will let you know how and when they can be collected later in the term.
I hope you find this information helpful, but if you have any questions about these dates, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
