Ysgol Aberconwy has well established arrangements for identifying and providing for individual students’ additional learning needs. It is our policy to assess students’ needs as early as possible.
After careful diagnostic testing, students follow individually tailored programmes. Where students have needs which require the co-operation of outside agencies, it is the responsibility of the ALNCO to make the necessary contacts.
During all stages in the provision for a student’s additional learning needs, we seek to work closely with parents, and emphasise the importance of good working relationships between the school and home.
The school employs a team of learning support assistants that work on a one-to-one basis with individual students, or with small groups of students as well as providing appropriate intervention programmes.
The school houses the Conwy centre for Dyslexia, ABCD. Please visit our webpage or contact the school if you require further information.
The school also houses the County’s provision for students with ASD and neurodevelopmental difficulties. There are four teachers and a team of learning support assistants assistants working in this area. Please see the Y Ganolfan webpage for more information.
Please note that the school is fully accessible for students with disabilities.
