Six Seren students from year 8 were chosen to represent Ysgol Aberconwy in a science design challenge organised and run by Bangor University Electronics Department, in conjunction with the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Called the IET Faraday Challenge, teams were asked to engineer an electronic gadget for either a child aged 2-5, a sporting activity or a person with a disability that would help with every day life.
Our group designed, built and cost a drinking vessel for a blind person. This had to give an indication on how full the cup was and alert the individual. The six students worked through the design process, which was not plain sailing, overcoming their differences to deliver an impressive pitch to the judges. Due to their excellent design, paperwork and overall presentation delivery they were awarded first place! Huge congratulations to Charlie, Sofia, Tawhai, Eleanor, Emily and Anelise! As the winners of this heat they will now go through to the next round, we wish them luck in their next challenge!
