Commonwealth Championships for Libby

Huge congratulations to alumna Libby Rubin, who has been selected to represent Wales at the 2024 Commonwealth Championships taking place in Sun City, South Africa!

Last year, whilst a head student at Ysgol Aberconwy, Libby broke Welsh powerlifting records making her the strongest female in her category in Wales of all time! (See that news article here). Following on from this success, and as a result of her performance at the 2024 British Junior and Sub-Junior Championships, the female powerlifter has now been selected to compete in the U76 Junior Class at the Commonwealth Championships in October.

Now, 19 years old and studying mathematics at Loughborough University, Libby has set up a fundraising page, which she hopes will raise £1000 to help support her performance and make her dream come true; to be given the opportunity to compete for her country in a sport that she loves.

Libby continues to be an inspiration to all those starting out in the sport and the Ysgol Aberconwy community is very proud of all of her achievements. We wish her the greatest success as she moves closer to achieving her dream.
