This year we have run our first ever FirstGive Charity Appeal with the whole of year 7. Students across this year group chose a local charity to support, carried out social action in support of that charity and then created presentations to detail the work of their charity and the social action they carried out. All year 7 form classes competed to win a £1000 grant for their chosen charity.
The local charities selected to support were Conwy Foodbank, Crohns & Colitis, Ty Gobaith, Osbourne Trust, Aberconwy Domestic Abuse Service, St David’s Hospice and Adferiad Recovery.
7DC were our eventual winners and have raised and won £1360.57 in support of Ty Gobaith. The other charities will receive £434 each.
Mr. Rhydian Jones, Director of Learning- Well-being, House and PSHE said, “This was another incredible fundraising effort from the entire school community. To see students, staff, and parents (even those that have not yet started at Ysgol Aberconwy yet) come together to support this appeal has been humbling and inspiring. We have seen some fantastic fundraising and social action efforts that have raised awareness of the wonderful work of all our local charities.”
