Fourteen year 9 students recently spent a day attending a ‘Let’s Take Languages’ fair at Bangor University, which aimed to encourage them to open their eyes to the world of opportunity and the benefits of learning additional languages.
The one-day fair offered students a range of workshops, featuring a variety of language tasters and sessions that included Modern Languages in the Working World by David Binns, Chinese calligraphy by the Confucius Institute, Galician language by the Centre for Galician Studies in Wales and a Bangor University tour given by Routes Cymru Student Language Ambassadors.
International Languages teacher, Nia Williams, who accompanied the students, said, “All the students found the event really interesting and gained some very useful information about studying languages at university and potential careers. Additionally, they also came away with a greater awareness of what it means to be a global citizen”
