Students in Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 performed Cable Street to captivated audiences last week. The play, written by Lisa Goldman, is about two girls growing up in London’s Jewish East end in the 1930s. The performances were dedicated to the people of Ukraine and raised over £200 for UNICEFs Ukraine appeal.
Ysgol Aberconwy is participating in the National Connections scheme. This scheme offers a unique opportunity for youth theatres and schools to stage new plays written for young people.
Cable Street will next be performed on Thursday 24th March at 6.00pm. Tickets for this performance are free: please e-mail the school if you would like to attend. A Director from the National Theatre will be attending the performance to give the company feedback on ways they can develop their work as they look forward to taking it to the regional Connections festival in Aberystwyth Arts Centre in May.
