Dear Parents and carers,
You are warmly invited to Parentalk: a six-week programme exploring the world of parenting teenagers, starting on Wednesday 12th June 2019, based at Ysgol Aberconwy. The course has being delivered in many settings throughout the UK and is very popular, covering topics such as understanding your teenager, staying connected, identity, communication and conflict, big pressures…good choices and letting go.
Here are some of the comments from parents who have previously attended the course:
‘It has revolutionised my approach to my teenager’
‘It was a great opportunity to think about the issues and to get together with other parents to discuss things. Felt very supported and good fun too.’
‘Absolutely fantastic! I have found it really helpful as well as being really enjoyable’
Parenting has its ups and downs for all of us. Parentalk provides valuable insights for anyone navigating the teenage years, as well as parents from Year 7 who are about to begin! It uses DVD presentations and group discussion and is suitable for mums, dads and carers: whether parenting together, alone or in a blended family. It is organised by parents using the popular Parentalk resources from Care for the Family – this course will be hosted by Gareth and Kathryn Williams, who volunteer with CFTF and are currently family workers based at St John’s Methodist church, Conwy.
The six-week programme starts on Wednesday 12th June and will run from 4pm to 6pm. The following sessions are the 19th and 26th of June and the 3rd, 10th and 17th of July. Each session looks at different topics so don’t worry if you can’t make every week. To reserve your place, you can call the school on 01492 593243 or contact your child’s guidance mentor.
